The family had been struggling with their existing kitchen for years when they initially came in to see me. Being gourmet foodies and big entertainers they needed a space that would allow them to prepare wonderful meals within a social atmosphere, while still enabling them to entertain guests in between courses.

The first thing we did was to remove the wall between the dining room and kitchen, and move the fridge and stove to the opposite side of the room. The Bertazzoni all gas convection range and Bertazzoni hood becomes front and center as the focal point of the room.

Being a relatively small kitchen in a classic Vancouver character house, it was important to fit enough storage and work space into a single wall. The challenge was that the main wall jogged in to the left and back to the right. I was able to camouflage this by implementing a full height, shallow depth pantry left of the range and built the fridge into a recess on the right with extra tall storage. This showed off their beautiful range and allowed for ample counter work/storage space either side. I moved the sink and dishwasher into the island and the Caesarstone countertop with waterfall ends create a grounding affect while giving plenty of work room.

The homeowners wanted a contemporary look that did not conflict with the character in the rest of the home, but rather felt like it belonged. We selected an ebony engineered veneer along with a white painted finish to provide the kitchen with a classic vintage colour scheme. The “old world” feel of the pendant lights above the island and more traditional shape of the backsplash tile helped in transitioning the look of this kitchen design.

kitchen-4

From a small L-shaped kitchen with a small pint-sized budget, came our cleverly designed and incredibly friendly kitchen for a family of four. The new open layout is perfect for us and has literally brought brightness and joy to our home and children.

All surfaces are white with stainless steel accents. All appliances and fittings are compact, efficient and oh-so stylish.

Bertazzoni was the perfect choice for our gas cooktop, wall oven, and microwave speed oven. They fit beautifully together. Their compact size saved us precious space which allowed for more generous countertops.

The quality of Bertazzoni is evident in the design, finish, and details. The overall result is flawless! They are simply lovely pieces. Our kitchen is still small and modest, but it will no doubt see many years of joyful meals and family happiness.
